"I don't need another polish" said NO WOMEN EVER
Who said nail polish was meant only for your nails? You know all of those old polish bottles laying around your house? Think twice before throwing them away. They can end up being a lifesaver and become very handy around the house!!
Clever Ways to Use Nail Polish
1) Ever have a hard time finding which key is for your house, work, parent's home, donut safe, dog's pimped up house, ..etc? Color code your keys to make them easier to locate.. especially when you are trying to rush in your house before your pee bomb explodes!
2) Annoyed with your important labels smudging off? Brush clear polish over labels to prevent it from smudging.
3) We all are guilty for pulling an all nighter before a presentation the next day. Sometimes were are just too tired to function well. Have you ever found yourself mistakenly using your eyeliner brush as your lip liner and your bronzer brush as your blush brush? Try color coding your make-up brushes with color polish or even paint it just to feel artsy!!
4) Oh no! You're on a date and you just realized the super cute necklace that you bought on sale just turned your neck green!! You're freakin out, your heart is racing, and you feel like you are about to break out into the Incredible Hulk. Whip out clear nail polish and coat your jewelry to prevent it from tarnishing or making you green..again.
5) Your daughter is so cute.. I mean duh, she got the looks from her mother for goodness sake. Although she is cute, not everything she does may compliment it. So here, I will spill a weird thing that my niece, basically like a daughter to me, does that I can't seem to understand. EVERY doll she owns, no matter how cute Elsa looks in her Frozen blue dress, they ALL go completely naked and the clothes are no where to be found. She carries her naked dolls everywhere and people just stare. If you have the same problem, paint on some bra and undies with her favorite nail polish color!!
6) Poking any string through a small hole can get your blood boiling up. Whether it's a thread through a sewing needle or a lace through a shoe hole, when the string unlaces into many others and won't stay firmly together, that's when we contemplate on whether the item we are trying to fix is that valuable to us to consider throwing in the trash. Dip the ends in clear polish and ravel the ends together. Once it's dry, try again because now the ends will be more firm, making it easier.
7) Writing thank you notes to mail out can be a pain! Especially when you are trying to think about that fresh off the grill, juicy steak all soaked in marinated secret sauce your dad always makes.. Did your mouth start watering up yet? Good, then it worked. Now you can use that saliva to finish licking the other 100 envelopes. If it didn't work, use nail polish to seal the envelopes!!
8) You pulled out of your drive way with your Steve Madden sunglasses on and the hood popped open because it is a BEAUTIFUL day!! You are singing along to your favorite song that you have set on replay since it is freakin' the best song that has ever been written on the planet of Earth! But then you heard an unfamiliar sound in the song that YOU KNOW wasn't there before. FRENCH NUGGETS**! Your car scraped against a branch, leaving a scratch that is so noticeable that anybody's grandma could see it a mile away. Find a color polish that is close to the color of your car to repair any nicks and scratches.
9) "Ooo girl your legs look FABULOUS in those tights!", you probably hear that all the time. Which makes you enjoy strutting off in your favorite stockings on a daily reg. Before you go on a mental break down because you found a string on the tights that tears every time you pull it, apply a top coat to the tear to prevent it from getting any worse.
10) The other day I went to Charming Charlies and found the cutest starfish earrings ever! They were perfect for everyday wear but one problem.. they aren't real silver and hypoallergenic.. I would risk my ears getting inflamed but the crusty pus that develops after grosses me out! Problem solved ;) Coat the earring post with clear polish to prevent allergic reactions.
11) Every wash, I realize that the buttons on my clothes keeps loosening up! Apply clear polish to the center of the thread to keep them secure.
12) Those annoying cabinets and drawers that you find yourself re-tightening the loose screws every few days may be getting on your last nerves. Lightly coat the screw ridges with clear polish and let it dry before poking them back in the holes to tighten the screw again. This will keep them from getting loose again.
13) Do you find yourself unwillingly taking a shower outside every time you turn on the hose? Yes, you may think you are saving water by getting a shower while in the process of watering your garden but you're wrong. The run in your hose is wasting so much water and increasing your water bill slowly. To temporarily fix the problem, while the hose is dry, coat the ends of the run with clear polish and let it dry.
14) Prevent anything from rusting or loosing it's shine really with clear polish! Apply it on a belt buckle, a toilet seat screw, chipped car paint, rings, ..etc.
15) Feeling extra crafty today? Open your cabinets and find a plain mug. Let's start marbleizing :)
You Will Need:
- mug
- nail polish
(avoid quick-dry polishes)
- waterproof container big enough that will easily fit your mug
(one that you won't mind ruining)
- a thin stick or toothpick
- paper towels
Directions:
1) Fill the container 3/4 of warm water
2) Grab 1-3 colorful polishes of your choice and remove the brush from the bottles
3) Pour a few drops of the polish straight out from the bottle, in the middle, close to the surface of the water
(if dropped too high up, the polish will sink to the bottom)
4) After you pour the polish(es) you want to marbleize together, take a thin stick to swirl the paint if necessary
5) Before the polish film starts drying out, dip your mug and start swirling it to pick up the paint
6) Only dip the mug in once, if you feel like it needs more, let it dry on a paper towel first before dipping it back into the water
(must re-drop in polish since the previous one has dried up)
7) Wipe away any excess polish that's inside the mug and then let it dry on the paper towel
(don't touch it until it is fully dry or else you'll smudge the paint!)
Clean Up:
- If there are any smudges or unwanted paint, clean it up with acetone or polish remover
- Your mug is no longer dishwasher or microwave safe, must hand wash the mug from now on
- When pouring out the water from the container you used, take a paper towel and pick up any of the left over paint completely. This will prevent any nail polish from getting all over your sink
Lots of Love,
