15 Ways You Can Use Nail Polish

"I don't need another polish" said NO WOMEN EVER
Who said nail polish was meant only for your nails? You know all of those old polish bottles laying around your house? Think twice before throwing them away. They can end up being a lifesaver and become very handy around the house!!

Clever Ways to Use Nail Polish

1) Ever have a hard time finding which key is for your house, work, parent's home, donut safe, dog's pimped up house, ..etc? Color code your keys to make them easier to locate.. especially when you are trying to rush in your house before your pee bomb explodes!
2) Annoyed with your important labels smudging off? Brush clear polish over labels to prevent it from smudging.

3) We all are guilty for pulling an all nighter before a presentation the next day. Sometimes were are just too tired to function well. Have you ever found yourself mistakenly using your eyeliner brush as your lip liner and your bronzer brush as your blush brush? Try color coding your make-up brushes with color polish or even paint it just to feel artsy!!

4) Oh no! You're on a date and you just realized the super cute necklace that you bought on sale just turned your neck green!! You're freakin out, your heart is racing, and you feel like you are about to break out into the Incredible Hulk. Whip out clear nail polish and coat your jewelry to prevent it from tarnishing or making you green..again.

5) Your daughter is so cute.. I mean duh, she got the looks from her mother for goodness sake. Although she is cute, not everything she does may compliment it. So here, I will spill a weird thing that my niece, basically like a daughter to me, does that I can't seem to understand. EVERY doll she owns, no matter how cute Elsa looks in her Frozen blue dress, they ALL go completely naked and the clothes are no where to be found. She carries her naked dolls everywhere and people just stare. If you have the same problem, paint on some bra and undies with her favorite nail polish color!!
6) Poking any string through a small hole can get your blood boiling up. Whether it's a thread through a sewing needle or a lace through a shoe hole, when the string unlaces into many others and won't stay firmly together, that's when we contemplate on whether the item we are trying to fix is that valuable to us to consider throwing in the trash. Dip the ends in clear polish and ravel the ends together. Once it's dry, try again because now the ends will be more firm, making it easier.

7) Writing thank you notes to mail out can be a pain! Especially when you are trying to think about that fresh off the grill, juicy steak all soaked in marinated secret sauce your dad always makes.. Did your mouth start watering up yet? Good, then it worked. Now you can use that saliva to finish licking the other 100 envelopes. If it didn't work, use nail polish to seal the envelopes!!

8) You pulled out of your drive way with your Steve Madden sunglasses on and the hood popped open because it is a BEAUTIFUL day!! You are singing along to your favorite song that you have set on replay since it is freakin' the best song that has ever been written on the planet of Earth! But then you heard an unfamiliar sound in the song that YOU KNOW wasn't there before. FRENCH NUGGETS**! Your car scraped against a branch, leaving a scratch that is so noticeable that anybody's grandma could see it a mile away. Find a color polish that is close to the color of your car to repair any nicks and scratches.

9) "Ooo girl your legs look FABULOUS in those tights!", you probably hear that all the time. Which makes you enjoy strutting off in your favorite stockings on a daily reg. Before you go on a mental break down because you found a string on the tights that tears every time you pull it, apply a top coat to the tear to prevent it from getting any worse.
10) The other day I went to Charming Charlies and found the cutest starfish earrings ever! They were perfect for everyday wear but one problem.. they aren't real silver and hypoallergenic.. I would risk my ears getting inflamed but the crusty pus that develops after grosses me out! Problem solved ;) Coat the earring post with clear polish to prevent allergic reactions.

11) Every wash, I realize that the buttons on my clothes keeps loosening up! Apply clear polish to the center of the thread to keep them secure.

12) Those annoying cabinets and drawers that you find yourself re-tightening the loose screws every few days may be getting on your last nerves. Lightly coat the screw ridges with clear polish and let it dry before poking them back in the holes to tighten the screw again. This will keep them from getting loose again.

13) Do you find yourself unwillingly taking a shower outside every time you turn on the hose? Yes, you may think you are saving water by getting a shower while in the process of watering your garden but you're wrong. The run in your hose is wasting so much water and increasing your water bill slowly. To temporarily fix the problem, while the hose is dry, coat the ends of the run with clear polish and let it dry.

14) Prevent anything from rusting or loosing it's shine really with clear polish! Apply it on a belt buckle, a toilet seat screw, chipped car paint, rings, ..etc.

15) Feeling extra crafty today? Open your cabinets and find a plain mug. Let's start marbleizing :)

You Will Need:
- mug
- nail polish
(avoid quick-dry polishes)
- waterproof container big enough that will easily fit your mug
(one that you won't mind ruining)
- a thin stick or toothpick
- paper towels

Directions:
1) Fill the container 3/4 of warm water
2) Grab 1-3 colorful polishes of your choice and remove the brush from the bottles
3) Pour a few drops of the polish straight out from the bottle, in the middle, close to the surface of the water
(if dropped too high up, the polish will sink to the bottom)
4) After you pour the polish(es) you want to marbleize together, take a thin stick to swirl the paint if necessary
5) Before the polish film starts drying out, dip your mug and start swirling it to pick up the paint
6) Only dip the mug in once, if you feel like it needs more, let it dry on a paper towel first before dipping it back into the water
(must re-drop in polish since the previous one has dried up)
7) Wipe away any excess polish that's inside the mug and then let it dry on the paper towel
(don't touch it until it is fully dry or else you'll smudge the paint!)

Clean Up:
- If there are any smudges or unwanted paint, clean it up with acetone or polish remover
- Your mug is no longer dishwasher or microwave safe, must hand wash the mug from now on
- When pouring out the water from the container you used, take a paper towel and pick up any of the left over paint completely. This will prevent any nail polish from getting all over your sink

Benefits of SNS Nail Products & How to Encourage Clients to Try It!

The Signature Nail Technique has been rising over the years and the profits of salon's who have introduced the products to their clients.
Let's just say, if a Gel and an Acrylic made a baby, their baby would be SNS! And like any baby, they are healthy, light weight, and natural.

Benefits on SNS:

  • ODORLESS: the fumes won't burn your eyes or nose
  • NO LIQUID or UV LIGHT NEEDED: ditch the waiting time under the UV light! Once you apply the Top Coat, your finished nails will dry within seconds!
  • LIGHT WEIGHT & DURABLE: acrylics are great because they are durable but the weight it puts on your nails are obvious..
  • LOOKS & FEELS NATURAL: not only does it look great, it feels great!!
  • HEALTHIER FOR YOUR NAILS: makes the whole package since Calcium, Vitamin A, E, B5, D3 is added into it. The Base Coat that is applied first on the nails are already doing its job by applying nutrients to keep the nails stronger and growing faster.
How to Get Clients to Love the Product:

1) PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!
We all know practice makes perfect. The SNS product is already perfect, it's just up to you to have the self-discipline to learn it. If you are already part of the ATL Nail Supply Loyalty Program, you will already know that we have the SNS Show every other month, well we try to. The shows are for you to get a better understanding and know the deeper details from every aspect of the product you have had questions about. If you can't make the shows, make an appointment with us and one of our professional associates, who have mastered the product, will be more than happy to have a one on one tutorial with you ~ (888)998-8765

2) To Get Clients to Love the Product, You Must Love it First!
You can't expect clients to want a new product they have never tried if they don't see you compassionate about the product you are selling. You need to practice, learn, and master the product before your clients will trust you with the benefits it provides.

3) Make SNS #1 Priority When Clients Ask for Gel or Acrylics
If a customers asks for Gel or an Acrylic, show them the display of Gelous Colours you have. Let them know that, as a license nail technician, your job is to help your clients maintain healthy and beautiful nails. The product will not only last longer than an average gel polish on the nails but it will also release nutrients to provide the nail beds with strength rather than acrylics, which will only destroy and shed the nail beds. Once you get the clients to try SNS, the product will speak for itself.

4) Clients Only Want What They See Others Have
It's funny how human nature is. We often compare what others have from a trigger of an impulsive envious response. Since we are all guilty for feeling this type of way. Why not use it for the better good of your salon? When you get a client to try the product, seat other clients around her/him so that they can see the SNS product being used and how great it looks when finished. While doing their nails, use your teaching skills. Here are a few pointers on what you should mention.
  • Base Coat = has calcium
  • Gelous Colour Powders = no added chemicals / has added nutrients / last more than 14 days / no damage on nail bed / soaks off easily with Acetone
  • Ask the clients how SNS feels on their nails. Does it feel light, look natural, and durable?
  • How do they like the shine? If they mention how they like the shine on Gels better.. NO PROBLEM:) Apply a gel top coat on their nails, put it under the UV light, and VOLA the shine they want with the nutrients of SNS they need.
  • Some clients are allergic to the harsh chemicals that are in many of the nail products out there.. but say no more! SNS is FORMALDEHYDE, TOLUENE, & DBP FREE!!

Tips:

a) Always wipe the brush of the Gel Top & Base on a clean piece of napkin to prevent debris and clumps in the bottles after you apply each coat.

b) Don't be afraid to use a lot of gel base on the nails.

c) Start with a lot of gel base on the brush and apply it 1/2 away from the cuticles in the middle. Brush all the way down. Then brush from the left side and gradually move to the right. Remove excess gel in the bottle and before dipping it back in the bottle, brush the nail one last time from the left to right. Wipe the brush on a the clean piece of napkin and then put it back in the bottle.

d) Tips B & C will prevent the nails from getting bubbles trapped.

e) Continuing Tip C: After you dip the nails in the Natural Set powder for the 1st layer of Gelous  Base Coat, Apply the 2nd layer of gel base 3/4 away from the cuticle using the same left to right stroke technique. The 3rd layer of gel base will be closer to the cuticle. This is to build a stronger foundation for the nails.

f) When doing SNS on fake nails, there will be 5 layers of Gel Base Coat on the nails, following with a dip in the Natural Set Powder for each layer.
    1) Horizontally in the middle, where the fake nails and the natural nail bed meets.
    2) Vertically, starting 3/4 away from the cuticle, brush 1 stroke in the middle all the way down.
    3) Brush the gel base onto the vertical middle layer, making it a little wider. Closer to the sides of the nails but not all the way.
    4) This time brush all the way from the left to the right but still 3/4 away from the cuticle.
    5) Finally for the last layer, brush the whole nail. From the left to right stroke technique.

g) French Dipping Powder Container: On the side that marks the #1, will make a deeper dip for the french curve. On the other side that marks #2, will make the french dip less curvy.

e) When applying the Top Coat, 1st layer should be light and applied faster (doesn't need to be perfect). Clean brush off on napkin and dip it back in the bottle for another coat. 2nd layer, brush it evenly on the nail closer to the cuticle. This 2nd layer can be applied slower and perfectly.

f) When stroking any of the gels on the nails, make sure the brush is flat on the nail and stroked lightly. The brush should not be positioned at an angle or upwards.

Face Remedies You Got to Try

"Beauty is not about mere appearances. True beauty comes from the inside. The more you show who you are, the more beautiful you will be."
Our natural beauty is hidden under our skin. Due to our crazy lifestyle, our skin is exposed to harsh chemicals, pollutants, and the sun's rays beaming down onto us. The only way to bring out the natural glow from our skin is to love and nourish it. Some store products can get pretty expensive and the results don't always work. So why not, try out a few..or all of these home remedies. They aren't hard your wallet, instead they are soft on your face.

Shrink Those Pores
Enlarged pores can get in the way when you are striving for smooth, glowing skin

Sugar Scrub Dub Dub
   - 1 tsp. lemon juice and orange juice (optional)
   - 1 tsp. honey
   - 1 tsp. olive oil
   - 1/2 tsp. of sugar
Mix all together and rub it on your face. Leave it on for 5 minutes and then wash it off with ice cold water.

Egg-actly What You Need
   - 1 egg white without the yolk
   - 1 tsp. lemon juice
The egg whites will help tighten the skin and also shrink your pores. Mix the two together and then apply the paste onto the face evenly. Let it dry completely and then wash it off with lukewarm water. Finish it off with a splash of ice cold water!

Roses are Red, Cucumbers are Green
   - 1 cup of rose water
   - 1/2 cup of cucumber juice
   - 1 tsp. lemon juice
Mix together and apply to the face regularly. Your pores will shrink overtime.

Bye to Blackheads
Those stubborn blackheads around the nose, chin, and forehead can be a confidence turn off

Egg Whites = Friends
Whisk 2 egg whites until it becomes a white, fluffy paste. Apply it on the areas where the stubborn blackheads are seen. Place a paper towel on top of the layer of paste and lightly press against it to smooth the paper out evenly for it to stick. Wait a few minutes for the egg white to dry, then add another layer onto the paper towel. Let it dry completely and then remove the napkin slowly. Wash your face with lukewarm water and then splash your face with cold water to finish it off.
~ Egg whites provide proteins that are capable to absorb the excess of sebum from the skin. It helps reduce the size of enlarged pores where blackheads are usually formed.

Get Rid of Dark Circles
No I did not get punched in the face, I'm just really tired..

Cute-cumber
Dip two cotton balls in cucumber juice and place them on eyes.

MightTea Green Tea
Dip green tea bags in ice cold water and then place them on eyes.

Taters Gonna Tate
Place a thin slice of a potato on each eye.

Pesky Pimples
Planets have taken over your face! Time to get your face back

A+pple Vinegar
   - Unfiltered apple vinegar
   - Fresh water
   - 1 tsp. lemon juice
   - 1 empty water bottle
Wash face with lukewarm water and pat dry. Add 1/3 of the water bottle with apple vinegar and then the rest with water. Squeeze one tsp of lemon juice into the bottle. Cap it and mix it together. Dip a cotton ball in the mixture and then apply it directly on the blemish. Leave it on for at least 10 minutes. Wash your face afterwards with cold water. Reapply the mixture a couple of times throughout the day for better results. Make sure to use moisturizer afterwards to prevent skin from over drying and don't overdo this remedy!
~ apple vinegar kills off the bacteria that is causing the breakout. It helps balance the pH of the skin to make it harder for bacteria to thrive.

Quaili-Tea Tree Oil
   - Small bottle of tee tree oil
   - Fresh water
   - Small empty bottle
Wash face with lukewarm water and pat dry. Add 5 drops of tea tree oil in the small bottle, then fill it with water. Cap it and mix it together. Dip a cotton bottle in the mixture and then apply it on the problem areas.
~ tea tree oil becomes a solvent that seeps through the extra sebum and unblocks the pores. It kills off the bacteria that is harmful to the skin and prevents any further outbreaks.

Grow Beautiful, Long Lashes
Flutter your nature lashes like you have a secret
Note: remove all make-up & leave remedy overnight

OLOVE Oil
Before going to bed, dip a clean mascara brush into olive oil and then apply it onto the eyelashes. Avoid it getting into your eyes. If it does, just rinse your eye in water.

Looks Like Your Nail Polish Has a Little Secret

Your nail polish is a big part of you. It is always there for you on your fun first dates. It enjoys complimenting your outfits. When a heartbreak happens, it will be by your side to cheer you up. Your nail polish is practically your best friend.
And like any best friend, they have their secrets..

1) Handyman
Clear polish is not only used to provide that finish-off shine top to your nails. It can also be used to coat your inexpensive jewelry to prevent it from rusting!

2) The Color Polish You Choose Means a lot More to You Than You Think
It's not at random. Your color preferences usually links to your emotions or describes your personality.

3) Store Your Polish in the Fridge
Storing your polishes in the fridge increases it's life expectancy.

4) ALWAYS apply a Top and Base Coat
We understand it is extra the work but it pays off. Applying a base coat helps your polish from chipping. The top coat creates a shine that makes your polish's color pop more, and prevents it from getting stained.

5) The Darker the Polish Color, the Thinner the Coat
Darker polishes have higher pigmentation, which makes them chip off faster. Apply thinner coats when choosing darker polishes.

6) Some Polishes are Health Freaks Too
Not only does your nail polish make your fingers look pretty, they can also contain vitamins that keeps your nails moisturized and protected. Brands like #Nubar and #Caption, contains no harsh chemicals like Formaldehyde, Toluene, and Phthalate. Believe it or not, many people are allergic to Formaldehyde!

7) Vaseline Trick
Create the perfect polish overtime with out the messy mess-ups! Put Vaseline on your skin around the outline of your nails. Polish and then wipe off the mess-ups at the end!

Stop Shaving and Start Waxing

All of us are born differently. Some off us are born with either thick or thin hair, dark or light hair, hairy to basically hairless. One thing we all have in common is, we all have hair in the most unwanted places ever.
Men do not tend to care much when it comes to their body hair..since they say it's "manly". But how about us women?? We have to maintain the hair growing on our eyebrows so that we won't start growing a uni-brow. Some of us.. me.. even have peach fuzzes growing above our lips! We can't just raise our hands in the air, like we just don' care because WE DO! Sometimes we are just too busy to wipe out that forest of hair we have growing under our armpits.. When we do have time, meaning about an extra 30 minutes or MORE in the shower, we will shave EVERYTHING below our waist.
I don't know about you but that's A LOT of shaving..
Shaving can sometimes leave our skin with bumps, rashes, and even razor burns..which can itch like a *****!
But before we start getting frustrated with what mother nature has given us. Here's a simple question.. Have you ever considered WAXING?? Okay, before you start cringing with fear of the thought of applying wax on certain sensitive regions of your body, allow us to calm your waxing fears with the 6 BENEFITS it can provide you.

1) Takes Longer for Hair to Grow Back
Typically when shaving, the hair usually grows back within just a few days and you will already see the hair sprouts ready to pop out to say "hey again!". With waxing, you can can do it less frequently. Hair re-growth ranges from 2-8 weeks, depending on your hair's natural growth cycle.

2) No More Dark, Shadowy Patches
During the summer time, the sun rays are the strongest, making our skin darker. Those dark, shadowy patches you see after you shave, seen more under the armpits, are the results of failing to get a close enough shave. When you wax, the hair from the skin gets pulled out completely, which prevents any stubs of hair and discoloration!

3) You Can't Cut Yourself
Your razor needs those sharp blades to be able to shave off your unwanted hair. I remember rushing in the shower to shave my legs after a date once..or twice, and accidentally cut myself in the process. I didn't realize how bad it was until the water ran over the cut..HOLY MOTHER OF RAZORS! But did you know that those cuts can lead you into a harmful infection? Sometimes we forget to count how many times we have used our razor. That's when bacteria builds up and you increase the chances of getting an inflammation.

4) Hair Comes Back Thinner and Lighter
Unlike shaving, the hair gets thicker from each session. But if you continue using wax as an alternative for hair removal, the hair on the areas that you have waxed will eventually become barely noticeable! Waxing makes your hair follicles weaker and less viable.

5) Say Bye, Bye, Bye to Razor Burns
Those creams and soaps you use to help ease the friction when shaving can lead your skin to getting irritated. In results, little red bumps and rashes form. Well bye Felicia! Waxing is your best friend because it knows not to embarrass you with those bumps. After waxing, just apply the Clean & Easy Sooth Gel with aloe onto the area. The Gel is designed to keep the area bump-free, smooth, and ease the post-wax redness.

6) The Pain Decreases the More You Wax
I know this is what makes you cringe the most when thinking about putting hot wax on your body and then ripping it off. Believe it or not, the pain does go away. Since your hair follicles are getting thinner ever single time you wax, your pain response will gradually decrease to becoming nonexistent.

3 HUGE Beauty Tips and Mistakes!

We, as women, all have so little time during the day but somehow we still manage to always..most of the time.. look like angelic creatures walking on the face of Earth. Men don't realize the extent of work we put into keeping our youthful beauty.. THEY SHOULD APPRECIATE US! One thing is, we don't do it for them though, we do it for ourselves. Keeping up with taking care of the only body that was given to us comes with a lot of work but it's what makes us angelic creatures. BECAUSE WE CAN DO IT. We are always up for challenges.
Okay, okay. So maybe I am going a little too far with the empowering movement of women. We're just great ;) So here are some beauty tips that keeps us looking and feeling our best.
WASH YOUR HAIR THE RIGHT WAY!
Beauty comes with a series of rules, and bathing is no exception. We all do the typical routine of shampoo first, conditioner second. It's not wrong to do that, i'm not stopping you. BUT if you want that shiny bouncy hair look, IT IS TIME TO MIX IT UP! Did you know that conditioning before you shampoo will actually keep your ends healthier and it will also fill any holes in the cuticle with moisture to make them smoother and boosting with shine?
1) Start with rinsing your hair with very warm water until it is fully damp. The warm water will open the cuticle to help remove any dirt or product that is trapped in your hair.
2) Condition first, just do it! This will protect your fragile ends from drying out and causing further damage.
3) Lather up your hair with shampoo BUT only at the scalp! The hair closest to your scalp are the ones that are the oiliest. The soap will naturally run down to the ends of your hair on it's own when you are rinsing off.
For short or thin hair= a quarter-size amount of shampoo
For long or thick hair= double that
4) BE GENTLE when rinsing off with water! Start with lathering your roots to increase the blood flow to the scalp and stimulate hair growth with medium pressure and up and down strokes. Slowly move down towards the ends.
5) Once the soap is fully washed off, add some conditioner towards the mid-length of tips. Clip your hair up while leaving the conditioner on and continue finish showering.
6) FINISH OFF with cold water to close the cuticles tight, causing it to keep your hair from shedding off more and also sealing the outer layer to reflect the most light to give you the most shine!!
NAIL HACKS
1) To make your manicure last, apply a thin layer of clear nail polish every 2 days! Make sure to coat the edges, that's where they usually start to chip.
2) Use ice water to dry your nails after a brief air dry! The cold water will really set the color!
3) Annoyed with the messy polish on your skin when painting them? Line your nails with Vaseline before you paint and then wipe the mistakes off when done!
4) Prevent chipping by doing the double base coat method. Paint the base coat on the top portion of your nails only and then apply a second coat over your whole nail afterwards.
5) Make your light or translucent colors pop more by applying white polish as your base!
6) Glitters are pretty but they are a pain in the butt to take off! Try soaking it off like you would with gel polish (dip a piece of cotton enough to cover your nail in acetone, press firmly on the nail and wrap in in foil).
SKIN HABITS YOU NEED TO QUIT
1) I understand there's a hot guy at the gym that you have been dying to talk to but that make-up you have on honey, is going to destroy your face. Working out with make-up on can cause a huge build up of excess oil that will clog your pores! So while you a sweating, your pores are opening up. That's when the layer of make-up you have on, combined with the dirt and bacteria, those are the key ingredients to horrible breakouts!
2) Stop picking your pimples! It can lead to scarring and end up turning into dark spots on your face. Touching your face in general is a NO-GO. The oils on your hands can be one of the many reasons why you just won't stop breaking out!
3) Under no circumstances are you to sleep with your make-up on. It is very important to take care of your skin before you end your day with a beauty sleep. Always wash that layer of make-up you have on off and then wash your face with a daily cleanser to wash away that excess oil, dirt, and bacteria that can clog your pores.
4) Avoid rubbing your eyes. They can lead to fine lines around your eye area. The surrounding skin area of your eye has the thinnest later on your face. That area is the first to show signs of aging. So avoid pulling your skin when applying make-up or contacts, or rubbing that area when removing make-up. Just be gentle to your skin.
5) Sleep with your face away from your pillow. The oil from your hair is trapped into your sheets and with you face planting into your pillow at night is just adding unwanted oils onto your face. Not only that, falling asleep on your pillow can cause unwanted fine lines and wrinkles.
6) Cure dried lips with lip balm, not salvia! Yes dry lips can be super comfortable, but licking or biting your lips is not the best solution. Your saliva is drying it more and is also taking away any natural moisture you have on your lips already.
